Cultivating Magic in Our Day-to-Day Life
This simple magic brings us closer to ourselves, and makes beautiful the nature of our existence.
With so many distractions in the form of electronics, work, family-drama and personal struggles to complicate our lives, it’s only too easy to lose ourselves. Traumas from our past linger, hindering our connection to ourselves and to the Universal energies around us. Learning how to cultivate magic in our day-to-day life can help us hang onto our sense of self and authenticity, even when the rest of the world is pushing for conformity.

Lighting the dried sage, I let it burn for a moment, fire catching the tips of each leaf before I blew it out. It had been a long, hard day and I inhaled deeply of the cleansing scent as I placed the smoldering twig upon the flake of stone. Cultivating magic in my life has led to a richer and more authentic experience; one that I hope might help others find their own way to authenticity.
I Believe in Magic
First of all, let me start off by saying I 100% believe in magic and the power to manifest change into your life. Because I also believe in Universal energy, it’s not a stretch for my mind to accept the existence of magic.
What’s more, I believe we can cultivate that magic, using it to set intentions and manifest our deepest desires into being. At the very least, we can use these strategies to bring a little romance and magic to ordinary days, making the most mundane tasks special.
It’s going to look different for each person to bring magic into their lives, but hopefully these suggestions inspire some ideas for you personally.
Be Authentic
To live a life true to ourselves, we must first embrace our own authenticity. I’ve talked about this before, in several of my previous posts. About how difficult it can be for some of us to allow our true selves to shine through for whatever reason. It has been for me…maybe for you, too.
Give yourself permission to be your true self. Free yourself from the opinions of others. Live your best life—with intention and purpose. Our existence here is too brief to live a half-life. Start now.

Practice Consciously
Even if it doesn’t come naturally at first, keep trying. By consciously practicing our authenticity, we align ourselves with the Universal energy within and around us—naturally generating positive vibrations.
This is the magic.
Personal growth looks different for every individual. For me, having struggled with entrenched negative thought processes, I began practicing yoga, listening to daily affirmations and meditation. I call it my “YAM”, lol.
It’s a 10 - 30 minute session I take for myself, when I emerge from my early morning writing session and before I launch into whatever the farm needs from me that day. I’ve found the stretching has helped reduce the number of work-related accidents I’ve had. Practicing yoga has helped to alleviate some of the soreness I feel from the laborious work I do.
The breathing associated with yoga helps with my blood circulation, increasing my endurance on the field. I’ve found that slow and mindful breathing a useful tool in combating anxiety, too.
Meditation aids in setting and manifesting intentions, as well as allowing you to practice being in the moment, something I’ve struggled with in the past. By making a conscious effort to practice our own self-improvement, new habits become easier—more route—and we are able to carry that magic with us throughout the day. Every day.
Gratitude & Positivity
I don’t blame myself or beat myself up for being stuck in those negative patterns for so long. The circumstances of my childhood and most of my adult life have kept me in survival mode, fearing for my own personal and mental safety. But those days are behind me now.
It’s taken time and practice to retrain my brain against those old thought processes, to stop living in fear and embrace a mindset of gratitude and positivity.
of the Positive Mindset Newsletter says:Gratitude is your law of attraction superpower. When you focus your attention on gratitude then you naturally raise your vibrations and become more of a match for attracting the life you want.
If you’re not already familiar with it, I invite you to check out these docu-movies to introduce yourself to the Law of Attraction. It could change your life.
Adding affirmations to my routine has made a huge difference in retraining my brain to an attitude of gratitude. I’ve found listening to guided affirmation-videos on YouTube while I go about my morning to be the key to shifting that mindset.
You may want to try a number of different videos to find one that resonates, but here’s the one that I listen to most frequently while doing my yoga and getting myself ready for the day.
When I’m struggling, I really like Eddie Pinero’s videos:
Romanticize It
We can bring magic to ordinary days just by romanticizing even the most mundane of tasks. When we romanticize our lives, we’re choosing to celebrate the blessings and abundance already in our lives, rather than focusing on the things we are lacking. Romanticizing deepens that appreciation by infusing your existence with gratitude and intention, drawing love and abundance to you, in turn.
Again, romance is subjective, so what it looks like for you to romanticize your life may look entirely different from what I do…
Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Light some candles.
Burn some sage to smudge your home or work-space.
Play “themed” mood-music.
Cook yourself a special meal.
Create rituals: full moon, new moon, summer and winter solstice, vernal and autumnal equinox.
Pick or buy yourself flowers to decorate your space.
Bring nature inside: add seasonal vestiges to your living space.
Practice the Danish art of “hygge”.
Use Tarot cards.
Fix yourself a nice cup of tea─or any beverage, for that matter!
Please feel free to leave your own ideas and suggestions in the comments below! I think we could all use a little more romance in our lives!
Cultivating Magic in Our Day-to-Day Life
Just remember─the most important part of creating magic is the intention behind the action. I believe that by cultivating magic in our day-to-day life we can bring ourselves better into alignment with the Universal evergy within and around us. This simple magic not only brings us closer to ourselves—it makes beautiful the nature of our very existence. Just the fact that we exist at all is a precious gift, but to exist on this particular planet with so much abundance at hand is a very special blessing indeed. So bring a little magic to your day—and start today!
Much love to you and yours, my friends.

I love this. Thanks also for the link to gratitude. It can be hard when we slip into survival mode. 💚
Magic begins in the magician’s heart beating drum to remove the curtain to find what was there is gone. The magic continues to draw in clouds that one must discover the secret self inside. Incense lit smoke hits the senses. Sage advice awaits.
