I love what you're doing!

My experience with men have been very similar.. not sure what's up with that.. most men can't handle strong women, they all want one but cannot handle it.

Breaking up by phone is a cowards move.

Wishing you all the best!!!

That's for sure about men wanting, but not being able to handle a stronger woman. I have experienced this too and it sucks.

Yes it does!! In the words of my daughter: big fat hairy monkey balls!!!

Many men do not even know what healthy boundaries are.. for centuries women have been subjugated .. religion and male leadership gave them an idea of superiority over the female.. and it just does not work. Women are not "less then" or second class citizens..

It's a man's world.. and just look at what this world has become...

They have forgotten how important "the mother", the "sacred female" really are.

Exploitation and oppression is what followed.

And women have had it.

I'm glad that there seems to be a general awakening in human kind.

It just cannot continue like this.

It isn't passive income, but you could maybe get some help with farm work by offering some kind of hands on training? Once you have more time, maybe even doing straight up classes could be an income stream. Again, not exactly passive, but you can make a good hourly rate on stuff like that.

Anyway, I wish you luck. The farm is a great (and sometimes sobering) inspiration.

that gives me an idea! Maybe Sam could do some video trainings, recorded for sale.

Like 'Handling sheep for the beginner' classes, or, 'are you really sure that you want to be a farmer?' classes. just a thought.

Thank you so much! I used to teach beekeeping courses, and I've done a number of chicken-processing workshops, too. Since buying the farm, however, I've found it difficult to attract prospective students to the because New Portland is in the middle of nowhere lol. I like the video-aspect, though. Once created, it would be that passive-income I'm after and people could watch it from anywhere. Thank you for your feedback!🙏

Too bad men are the heterosexual woman’s necessary attraction demographic. Y’all deserve better.

I missed you. Some asshole hacked me, deleted my account along with somehow getting into my actual phone removing 9000 pictures hundreds of important emails in 600 contacts. That poor bastard doesn’t understand what an overdeveloped sense of vengeance. Oh well, what you get for pushing buttons?

His loss. Onward !!!

I noticed you'd been awfully quiet for a while! Glad to have you back!🙌

Observant people know there’s definitely something to miss when I’m quiet…..😂

Thank you! Good to be here. There’s a certain circle here that I have became dearly fond of and genuinely missed. Present company included!!!

Men. Can't live with 'em! 😖 (present company excluded of course!)

Have you ever considered offering farming/conservation internships to interested youth? You provide the learning/experience (and maybe room/board) in return for their work. It's a fair barter arrangement and perhaps a partial solution to your seriously inadequate labor force.

Thank you! I actually did try offering internships, but today's younger generation seem less willing to work for room & board alone. More and more farms are offering at least a stipend to entice apprentices, but I am not in a position to do that. We also have the disadvantage of being in the middle of nowhere. Not very appealing to young people, I'm afraid. I appreciate the feedback! 🙏

Darn. Wish there was some way to get more money and labor flowing into your worthy venture Sam. It's so much for you and your son to carry solo.

Not sure if you're familiar with this organization "WWOOF" https://wwoof.net/

But may be worth checking out!

Thank you! Yes, I've definitely heard of the WOOFers program. I haven't had very good luck with volunteers in the past (long amd repetitivestory...), and I don't know how I'd manage them while I'm working off-farm. I don't really need help with the farming. I just need to be able to be ON-farm to do the work.🤷‍♀️ I appreciate the feedback, though!

You should have bought a truck. A bit more expensive than what you bought but it might have lasted you longer.

This vehicle is for my son. I'll refinance both the Farm and the car in another year and set myself up to buy my truck then.

My mom (almost 80) was a farm kid, and she would get the biggest kick out of what you are doing! Also, she would understand your struggles.

anyway. help to you:

E-commerce, if you can do it.

Some folks sell fertilizer 'teabags' (I know it sounds weird). Maybe that'll help.

Take a look at what @House Of Green (Alexandra Fasulo) is doing with her farm stand Maybe she can help somehow.

I wish I could be of more help.
